Build and Skin Quality:
The quality for this avatar is at normal Tokushi Levels. Though the skin isn’t too overly intricate, it does come with neat patterns which remain unique to this species. It’s difficult to say whether the avatar is covered with fur or scales, but it would seem that it is a mix of both. The avatar comes in a variety of different colours and tastes, though a major theme would seem to be that there’s an element of ‘brown-ish tones’ across each colour variation. The sense of the avatar that comes across is of a somewhat earthy creature, as a result.

All the same, the textures are uniformly applied across the skin and the attachments, fitting perfectly with one another and not having any discrepancies. The build quality of the sculpts is also at the usual Tokushi level, if not slightly more detailed, since the avatar is easily one of the more complex of Tokushi’s avatars in terms of all the ornate features.
Attachments:
As I just mentioned, this avatar is very ornate, with many small prims which gives the avatar visual presence and volume. At first look, it’s plain to see that the avatar is very pointy, with any number of spiky fluff on the back or front of the body. Starting from the ground up, the feet for this avatar are somewhat avian looking with sharp-tipped claws, and a single arched talon on the inside of the heel. The way how the feet have been constructed easily makes them one of the most unique, non-normative construction we’ve seen. For a little bit of extra effect, there’s even a little bit of webbing between the long toes. The digitigrade leg is fairly subtle in appearance, but is still easily identifiable as digitigrade. At the base of the foot, working its way up the back is a row of multi-coloured fluff for emphasis.
A strength of this avatar is that just above the kneecap where the digitigrade legs end, is a set of thigh prims that hide the fact that they’re made of prims incredibly well. They flesh out the avatar strongly while adding considerable shape and continuity to the legs as a whole. The textures on these prims are nicely done and appear kind of snake-skin-like despite the fluff on the back of the legs. On the front of the avatar is a bit of crotch-fluff, while on the back, users have a choice between two different tails.
The photos show both of the tail choices below; one is outright ornate and covered in a high amount of spikes. It also includes fascinating little appendages on stalks coming out of the top surface of the tail. The other tail is a flexible one with considerably less detail, but still textured nicely. We would recommend the sculpted tail not only because it fits in with the avatar better, but because it adds a lot visually. Additionally, there are 4 separate tail options available in the avatar folder; including one that rests on the ground, curls, or arches above the head.
Aside from the chestfluff, elbow fluff, and fluff on the back of the avatar, there are some interesting glowing structures on the back which add a bit of a whimsical quality to the avatar with their ornament-like appearance. They have no options and aren’t any kind of wings, but they do add to the avatar’s image as a whole.
Then we have the hands with their 4 fingers, and remaining similar to the feet in their construction. Each hand has 3 different poses (there are no custom finger poses), but that’s pretty good on the creators part, considering how the webbing between the fingers would limit many of the options.
Head:
Finally, the head. I immediately think about insects, angler-fish, and dinosaurs when looking at this head, and as such, it’s difficult to relate it to anything we have on our planet, making it seem all the more alien. Despite the massive overbite and the gigantic teeth jutting from the avatar’s muzzle, the face is set in an enigmatic, seemingly harmless grin framed by small, curious eyes. Of course, users are able to adjust this to their liking with 7 eyebrow expressions, multiple jaw states, and quite the unique tongue.
To that end, users can choose from 4 different tongue states; hanging out in front in 2 ways, or hanging on the right or the left side of the mouth. The little spade-shaped tongue-tip is a neat touch as well. Opening the muzzle wide treats a viewer to a look at a sharp row of teeth and an eagerly awaiting gullet. Users can choose between the long, extremely sharp teeth, or the much smaller, less threatening rows of teeth. Another customisation option is the ability to choose the colours for the mouth interior.
The eyes themselves are small and oval shaped, but the textures are well done as usual. Users can choose from a variety of different settings to customise the eye colour, position, and style. These are scripted to move on their own as well. Another interesting feature of the head is the ears which arch up and away from behind the head. Like the face and nose, they have their neat little stripes, as well as fins and fluff. Users can choose from a couple of ear-states.
However, the one feature that makes this avatar all the more alien are the antennae perched between the ears on the forehead. They appear insectoid from the base upwards, but after bending in a few different directions, they pivot forward with venus-flytrap like endings. Not only do these look extraterrestrial, but they move since they’re attached to the eyeballs under the avatar.
Features and Heads-Up Display:
The HUD is designed in the same style as Tokushi’s other avatar HUDS, so they’re easy to navigate regardless of if you’re used to their avatars or not. Commands are also offered to allow the user to use the maximum capabilities of the avatar. Many of the different commands for the avatar are available in the included notecard. The photo below shows each of the HUD pages.
Accessories:
This avatar comes with some accessories as well; namely a loincloth, two armbands, and a ‘death mask’ that is worn over the eyes and the muzzle. The photos show all of these attachments in varying detail. The fit is attuned to the avatar, and they provide some tribal theming to the creature as a whole. Users should be able to have some fun with these free attachments.
Customisation:
This avatar comes as modifiable and copiable, so users should be able to modify the avatar easily if they wish to add more accessories. If users opt to go without the prim thighs or digitigrade legs, there’s sufficient texturing that will allow them to get by without any problems whatsoever. Removing some of the ornate attachments to wear clothing does seemingly take away some character and uniqueness from the avatar, however.
Conclusion:
The Tokushi Inca-Ren is quite the interesting and unique avatar. It is very much alien and creative; offering a fun experience to those who choose to wear it. While we’ve reviewed a growing number of avatars, the creative imagination of the folks at Tokushi and of other creators never ceases to amaze us. Some may not like the avatar because it’s not the ‘kittycat’ kind of cute or snuggably fuzzy, but it’ll surely tickle the fancy of those folks who would like something a bit more ‘out of this world.’
