For at least a year now, I have received numerous requests around one particular species; “Where can I buy a Sergal Avatar?” Kinzart Kreetures has released the first purchaseable, publicly available version of this unique species for user enjoyment. For a lot of peoseple, it would seem to be the next ‘big thing.’
PLEASE NOTE: The Sergal avatar is *ONLY* available in Okarthel. The Satellite Stores do *NOT* offer the Sergal avatar. Click here for Kinzart Home-Store Landmark.

Build and Skin:
This avatar comes in generally two-toned versions. Most of the colour variations consist of a white body, but a secondary colour making up the sides, back and a good portion of the head. This dual-colour system makes for a simple fur coat which necessitates detail on the fur to avoid flatness. Like previous Kinzart avatars, the fur has a gentle mottled pattern with brush-strokes to provide visual fluffiness and depth. There is sufficient usage of shadows and highlights to accent different body parts like the breasts, navel, or abs. Each of the colour choices is bright and aesthetic to look at from head to toe. The back has the greatest variety in texture with a slightly dark patch of fur. Some peers had mentioned their wish that there was more variety in patterns in the Sergal; for example stripes or mottling that one would see on shark species, but users should be able to apply this on their own with little difficulty.
The avatar comes with both male and female shapes and skins. Additionally, a mature female skin is included for user enjoyment. Users wishing to get special genetilia will have to look to a third party vendor. There are genitals specifically made for Sergals available through Psicorp if it tickles your fancy.
Take Notice: The pictures under this link are rated Mature - Click here to view the Female Adult Skin
Now we start at the feet. The avatar comes with four separate toes which are long and skinny. The claws here are imposing and appear threatening. The underside of the feet do not consist of paw-pads, but are instead made of bare, leathery soles. This ventral surface is made up of pink skin with dark and light highlights. The heel remains flat on the ground, but the top surface of the foot attachment rises somewhat steeply to meet the surface of the digitigrade leg. From here, the leg completes the visual transition at a good angle before meeting at the kneecap of the avatar shape. Of note on the digi-legs are the strong detail in textures and sculpt, as well as the prim fluff at the rear of the leg and foot for extra effect. As well, users can have the toes either sit flat on the ground open, have them curl against the soles, or choose ‘auto’ for the feet to regularly stay open and only curl when in flight.
The hands are also 4-fingered, and the fingers are long enough to rival the length of the toes. Like the feet, each finger is tipped by a sharp claw while the undersides are covered with leather, pink-skin instead of fur. This is the first 4-fingered avatar that we have reviewed that opted to make the fingers look more spindly and skinny instead of thick and paw-like. Additionally, this is the second avatar that Kinzart has utilised a new system of finger-posing (the first was their Leopard avatar). Users can choose to extend, slightly bend, and curl each of the 4 fingers on each hand individually or use the 7 pre-made hand-poses that came with the avatar. A neat function is to save the custom poses for each hand in 1 of the 3 “Custom” slots for each hand. Again like the feet, there is a degree of prim fluff that moves up the forearm to give the arm a fuller look. The hand-attachments connect neatly with the avatar shape, requiring no wrist-prims to smoothen the transition.
The tail comes in two primary forms; Semi-Flexible and ‘Flexible.’ The Flexible tail (Right) comes with a static base, but the middle-to-tip of the tail is completely flexible. This is a unique combination, though it means that you get a bit of a crease where the sculpted tail-base meets the flexible part. The tip of the tail has a fluffy, feathered appearance made out of flexi-prims that you see on both versions of the tail. The semi-flexible version (Left) of the tail is the best one; most of the tail is made of a sculpted prim, but the latter half is made up of a flexible prim. There are no major creases compared to the ‘Flexible’ copy. Finally, users get to choose between two types of “Butt Fuzz” with both tails. As is seen in the accompanying pictures, you can choose “Feathers” (Right) or “Fluff.” (Left)
At last, we can touch on the key piece of most avatars; the head. Looking at some reference pictures from the creator of the species, it would seem that the head that has been made by Kinzart’s creator matches very well with the original drawings. In general, the head has very angular proportions that make up the face and the muzzle, owing to the avatar’s raptor/shark/wolf/avian-like appearance. As a whole, the head is round in the back, tapering to a point at the end of the muzzle where the straight edges of the lips meet, and the nostrils are placed just above. The jaw is angular as well; a protruding chin helps to form a prominent jaw-line towards the neck.
The interior of the mouth is another story. First of all, users are able to choose whether they wish to have a prominent lip or not (through the HUD/text commands), and are further given the choice of what colour they would like the lip to be if they decide to display it. The arrangement of teeth remain true to the original; with 3 teeth on each side of the muzzle (top and bottom) near the rear of the mouth. The jaw articulates with the face very well, and the interior of the mouth is sculpted and textured strongly. That said, the mouth is easily a vore-lover’s dream. Then tongue itself is a neatly textured whole tongue with a forked tip. Users are able to keep the tongue retracted inside the mouth, stick it out the front, or have it hang out the side. Users can also change the colour of the mouth interior through the HUD, just like with the lip. Finally, the user can opt to smile or frown. Depending on the light, however, the difference between the two mouth expressions seems subtle.
The muzzle bridge is wide and flat leading up to the equally flat, near-horizontal forehead. The brows are pronounced, which helps give the face some character. Both eyeballs are two-tinted as is standard in Kinzart avatars nowadays. The eyes themselves are a distinguished part of this avatar with a black outline and slitted pupils. The way in which they are positioned was done well; providing a good view from any angle that one looks at the head, even straight-on. Each of the eye states that have been provided give the face a slightly different personality. The only real criticism that I personally can afford to the head is the creasing where some of the head prims meet, which stands out more, or sometimes less depending on the different degrees of lighting and angles.
At last, the ears are relatively simple, tall ears that point diagonally away from the head. Users can choose to have them turn when typing or speaking, twitch independently, or perk up or fold down. Below the ears, there was an amount of prim fluff on the cheeks to give the face a little bit more dimension. Three other attachments deserve some mention; the avatar comes with fluff attachments for the upper torso and head for decoration. That is, there is included a ‘mane’ for the back of the head and back of the neck, as well as an array of fluff for the chest.
Features and Heads-Up Display (HUD):
Everything is controlled through the HUD and text commands. The HUD is perhaps the snappiest in response that we have come to witness from Kinzart, and we appreciate the design having 3 Separate pages for maximum useability and readability of options. The buttons are nice and big, and there is no problem in accessing the options you want to. The options are as follows:
Page 1:
- Ears (Type turning On/Off, Twitching On/Off, Perked Up/Down)
- Eye State (Open, Calm, Squint, Closed)
- Mouth (Smile/Frown)
- Tongue In/Out/Side
- Lip Visible/Invisible
- Butt Fuzz (Feathers or Fluff)
- Feet (Norma, Flat, or Auto)
Page 2:
- Finger Position Menu
- 3 User-made Custom “Slots” per hand
- 7 Preset Hand-Poses
- Custom Jaw Rotation
Page 3:
- Colours and Glow for the Following
- Lip
- Mouth
- Eye Colour 1 and Eye Colour 2 (for both eyes, not individually)
Customisation:
This avatar is modifiable and copiable, so as usual, users can modify the avatar in any which way that they please. Users wishing to use third-party hairs beware that because of the head shape (horizontal forehead and muzzle), it may be difficult to use your own hairs on this avatar.
Conclusion:
In my experience, there was always a lot of rumour and hype of a publicly available release of a Sergal avatar. After quite a while, it is neat to present that this mysterious creature is available in Second Life as a wearable avatar. Admittedly, I have not had any personal experience or intimate knowledge about the species, so comparison to original references were needed for me to make an educated review. Kinzart has stated that they have sought out the permission of the creator of the Sergal species (Trancy Mick), and through comparison, it would seem they have met the goal of making a spunky Sergal avatar with the appropriate amount of attitude and personality.

1106 Sergals sold since realease….is that surprising?
If those are the true stats; I’m not surprised.
If you’ve ever looked up what a Sergal is, or its story, you’d know almost instantly why it’s so popular. XD
http://goldring.wikia.com/wiki/Sergals
that has sergals, among other species. This site I wish these avatar makers would have sent in the notecard, for there are an obnoxious number of people who don’t know hardly anything about sergals, getting them and even saying this and that is how sergals are.
Cool, I didn’t know that.
I’ve known about sergals for about 3 years now probably and I absolutely fell in love with how they look. I’ve created 2 sergal characters I use on a RP forum site (Giving credit to Trancy Mick of course) that I use from time to time and have a third in the works. And these skins are absolutely lovely to say the least.
I’m not sure if it’s ‘obnoxious’ to simply not know the backstory of an avatar before buying it. Aside from the world that it came from, it stands on its own as a beautiful avatar.. And a share goes to Mick anyway, so is it really that much of an issue? She’s happy either way I’m sure.
Fabulous avatar, fabulous review. Thank you Sir.
