What is with the thighs anyway? Do you see thighs like that on a spotted hyena? http://cryingbackwards.com/hyenacollection1_large.jpg Nope. On a striped? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2a/Striped_Hyena_5.jpg/800px-Striped_Hyena_5.jpg Certainly not. Their thighs look the same as any other 4-legged animal’s thighs. It doesn’t make any sense to include something that ugly and pointless, unless it’s a hyena with some horrible tumors.

Seems like a fine avatar without the legs, but why not make it a bit easier on people and give a decent body shape.

I have to agree with the comments above, the thighs are cute and all if you arent wearing pants, but.. if you are, they don’t look the best. Yes, I know DERP. aims for chubby avis from what I see in there work but without the thighs I have to say it would probably look better.

After a lot of debating, I bought one of these guys. If you take off those horrid thighs and edit the body shape, its a wonderful avatar.

This is the hyena I’ve been using ever since it came out. I don’t know what they were thinking with the fat thighs but once you remove those the avatar looks great.

I recently purchased the “Dark Brown Spotted” Hyena av, and I was a little apprehensive at first– but I LOVE it.
The design is so adorable and menacing at the same time, and completely unique though slightly reminds me of Ed, Shenzi, and Bonzai from The Lion King. (Which is one of my fav movies, so I don’t mind~) The tongue is easily my favorite part.

I only have a couple of complaints:
1) The Thighs– They’d look fine if you want to wear the avatar naked, but I wear clothes– and tight ones at that– and it’s fine if you remove the thighs, but then the belly looks pregnant. I had to mod the shape a bit for my own personal taste, but it was easy and it looks great.
2) The eyecolor HUD. All though I LOVE the tri-color changing options, I wish it was attatched to the normal expressions HUD. It’s a little cumbersome to have to keep switching. I also wish the HUD minimized into a smaller version, as it’s quite large.
3) I’d like to see some ear and finger expression control.

All of my clothes and 3rd party hairs work well with just a tad bit of easy tweaking. I’m really happy I bought this avatar. It’s easily my favorite! I can’t wait to see what else DERP brings us.

I just bought this avatar last night and I was really hoping it would be something I loved since I hate buying an avatar blind. Even though I read this review, I had never seen it in-world (due to the fact I don’t get to play often).
However, I purchased the Dark Brown Spotted Hyena and I absolutely love it– except the thighs and the shape. The pot belly on the female is cute WITH the thighs, but since I wear clothes (and usually tight ones at that) they had to go. I slimmed the overall look down and it’s adorable.
Another feature I love is the tri-colored eye picker and the tongue options.
The only thing I wish is that there was a slightly wider variety of things to customize in the HUD such as ear position and all that (more like an AX av HUD– I love those), and I wish the eye HUD wasn’t a seperate feature. I also wish the HUD minimized down into a smaller size as it’s quite large and cumbersome.
Overall, though, my clothes and 3rd party hairs fit well on it with a slight bit of tweaking. I love the avatar and can’t wait to see more from DERP.

Very vell done hyena its look like Rl but the upper legs are bit hug but I love this avatar
